Strickland Metals (ASX: STK) has nailed a 41m drill hit grading 4 grams per tonne gold in Serbia that was part of a massive 272m intersection going 1.8 g/t gold equivalent from 169m. The broader intersection also showed copper, zinc, lead and silver and is from Strickland’s Shanac deposit within its 5.4-million-ounce gold-equivalent Rogozna project in the Balkan country of Serbia
Within the 272m intersection was another gold-only 70.9m intersection going 2.3g/t from 241m. The company says the new results have extended the strike length of the high-grade zone to 80m with mineralisation remaining open along strike.
The exceptional results from a recent three-hole diamond drilling program were encountered towards the southern end of the deposit’s footprint, providing confirmation of the lateral continuation of the high-grade gold zone within the central domain of Shanac’s 4.6-million-ounce gold-equivalent resource.
Shanac, which is one of four skarn-hosted gold and base metal deposits found within the wider Rogozna project, is showing some stunningly thick intersections in the core-drilling campaign.
In a second hole Strickland managed a further big 298.3m intersection grading 1.6g/t gold-equivalent from 234.9m, which includes 20m at 2.7g/t gold only.
Another 261m stretch weighed in at 1.3g/t gold-equivalent.
Interestingly, the three diamond-drill holes were all drilled from the collar position of a previous diamond-hole that in August returned a superb 89.7m at 4g/t gold-only from 244.5m.
Rogozna continues to deliver exceptional results on multiple fronts, with further excellent assays returned from recent drilling at the cornerstone 4.6M ounce gold-equivalent Shanac Deposit. These latest assays confirm outstanding potential to continue improving the grade distribution within the central domain of the Shanac deposit, with a Mineral Resource update on track for the March Quarter of next year.
Strickland Metals Managing Director Paul L’Herpiniere
The Shanac deposit contains a broad volume of skarn-hosted gold, silver, zinc and lead mineralisation, with its highest gold grades in proximity to the base of volcanic cover in association with strongly disseminated to semi-massive pyrite. Pyrite is an iron mineral nicknamed “fool’s gold” due to its pale-brass-yellow appearance often misleading novices because it resembles gold’s colour and metallic lustre.
The company has four drill-rigs continuing to work at Rogozna and with the ongoing quality and thickness of the mineralisation being intersected at the project, it plans to reveal an updated mineral resource early next year.
Assays remain pending for multiple holes including the initial three holes to test the up-dip extension at the Gradina prospect.
Strickland remains well-funded with an estimated $41.1 million cash and Northern Star Resources shares on hand at the end of September.
The company’s ongoing drill programs continue to reveal a monster of a deposit that appears to become even more monstrous with every drill hole.
