Dynamic onto buried pegmatites in WA goldfields

Auger sample assays from Dynamic Metals’ 100 per cent-owned Pioneer Dome lead in WA’s Goldfields region have put the company on the hunt for what it believes are buried lithium-caesium-tantalum pegmatites.

The “blind” mineralisation does not outcrop and is only identified through overburden enrichment, which has provided lithium hits and elevated key pathfinders of rubidium and caesium, suggesting a fertile melt for LCT pegmatites.

First-pass soil sampling at Pioneer Dome in August identified laterally-extensive lithium anomalies and the recent set of deeper auger samples, to about 6m, went as high as 182 parts per million lithium in a 1m interval from 2m depth. The enriched interval was part of a thicker 5m section averaging 134ppm lithium from 1m that sits on the western edge of a target named “PDWS01”.

Other auger samples in the target provided some tantalising geochemistry, with one hole ending at 4m with 140ppm lithium, 328ppm rubidium and 70ppm caesium in the last metre. Mineralisation at PDWS01 remains open in all directions – including depth.

The results from the auger sampling today are very exciting with multiple anomalies in LCT pathfinder elements, so we look forward to getting back out there at Pioneer Dome West early in the new year to continue to execute our systematic exploration and define potential lithium targets for drilling. Dynamic Metals managing director Karen Wellman.

Interestingly, the auger hits across PDWS01 do not correspond with elevated lithium in soil, giving rise to the possibility of other deeper mineralised targets in areas of low soil-lithium content. The company says it is reviewing all results with a view to evaluating the effectiveness of soil sampling for lithium exploration under cover.

Just last month, management revealed results from its first-pass soil-sampling campaign at Pioneer Dome, identifying a 2.8km lithium-enriched trend at the prospect. In total, about 1900 soil samples were taken as part of the reconnaissance exploration program, with the area considered highly-prospective for LCT pegmatites.

Now, with deeper samples obtained and buried targets identified, Dynamic’s geologists will be working hard to unpick the lithium story at Pioneer Dome.

Dynamic’s ground is adjacent to Essential Metals’ Dome North lithium project, which hosts a mineral resource of 11.2 million tonnes at 1.16 per cent lithium oxide for 129,000 tonnes of lithium oxide. The highly-successful Mt Marion lithium mine, in addition to the well-known Bald Hill and Buldania projects, are also all within 25km of Dynamic’s tenure.

Management says it plans to take a deeper look at the lithium anomalies with infill auger sampling and a reverse-circulation (RC) drill program next year, following heritage survey approvals.
